Despite what the hottest home makeover shows tell you, it’s not that easy to remodel your home. Picking out the appliances and color scheme poses no problem, but what about the cabinets, doors, and windows? Prefabricated sets are rarely high-enough quality, and the designs are bland, to say the least. Custom design for these items is usually the only way to go when it comes to giving a home a new look, but most homeowners face the same problem: finding a company that is small enough to give each customer individual attention, but large enough to feature the latest designs and fixtures.
However, there’s a local company that may be the perfect blend of old world craftsmanship and cutting-edge European design. Fitucci Cabinets has been in business since 1970, and now boasts three generations of family members who design, build, and install custom cabinets throughout Los Angeles (and beyond). Headed up by Eric Fitucci, who started working in his father’s woodworking shop during summer breaks from school, the company has grown and now includes a separate business that designs, manufactures, and installs custom doors and windows.
And while his father is more traditional and still draws his designs by hand, Eric has taken advantage of the latest in technology and contemporary design from Europe and incorporated it into the business. “Europe is way ahead when it comes to design,” Fitucci says “but the problem is that many of the pieces aren’t that functional. We specialize in taking the design and incorporating looks with function.”
An example of this can be found in the company’s Lift and Slide door system, which has basically eliminated height and width limitations for door or window openings. If you’ve always wanted to be able
to enjoy the mild Southern California weather by having sliding wall panels in your living or dining room that open onto your backyard, this simple system will make that possible. Currently, the company is hard at work on a 60-foot-wide by 19-foot-high sliding-door system for the new bar at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. Also, because the system is the only one of its type that has a hurricane rating, the company has been contracted to install the windows on a large condo complex in Florida.
But despite the high-profile commercial work that Fitucci Cabinets, Windows, and Doors does, they still focus on residential work as their main business. Their employees train from the ground up, and most of their staff have been there for years, having served in an apprenticeship while they trained. Investing in new technology, such as a state-of-the-art finishing shop, allows the company to offer their customers a wide variety of options, and they are eco-friendly, with products that include cabinets made from 100-percent post-consumer recycled materials and/or sustainable materials like bamboo, with finishes that give off zero emissions and are formaldehyde free.
For your next remodel, whether you are planning on classic, traditional designs or the latest cutting edge looks from Europe, the Fitucci Company should definitely be one of the first calls you make.
